A Retreat in India
with Jacqui Lofthouse and Chetan Mahajan
April 2nd-12th 2024
Now just three places remaining
We are delighted to announce our first ever international retreat. In Spring 2024, ten writers will travel to India with Founder of The Writing Coach, Jacqui Lofthouse. We begin with two nights in Delhi, to include a visit to Agra and the Taj Mahal. Then, we head to the mountains to the Himalayan Writing Retreat.
Your tutors on the retreat will be our Founder Jacqui Lofthouse and Chetan Mahajan, Founder of The Himalayan Writing Retreat. Chetan is a long-valued consultant at The Writing Coach and a Penguin published author.

This ten-day experience in India is curated and designed especially for writers. Guiding you on this retreat will be Jacqui Lofthouse, Founder of The Writing Coach. As well as a visit to Delhi and the Taj Mahal at Agra, you will spend a week in the mountains, enjoying daily writing classes and peaceful time to write in this stunning environment. In addition, there will be morning yoga, optional excursions and a Bollywood night! Jacqui and Chetan would love to welcome you at the Himalayan Writing Retreat…
A detailed outline of the travel and teaching schedule is available on
The Himalayan Writing Retreat website
The Fee for the Retreat is: £2900
This includes all tuition, yoga sessions, food, accommodation, transfers and in-country travel within India.
It does not include flights.

About our Retreat:
There are only ten places available on each retreat, with only one place now remaining. We will stay in two Delhi hotels including the Haveli Dhampura, a 150-year-old UNESCO Heritage Hotel.
After Delhi, in Chetan’s words: “We’ll head to nature and silence in the Himalayas, where birds chirp and silence sings. Here, you can clearly, loudly hear your inner voice. You’ll spend many hours free-writing in the halo of the Himalayan Peaks six times taller than Ben Nevis.”
Our Writing Curriculum:
Once at the Himalayan Writing Retreat, we will have a two hour writing class each day. The detailed daily curriculum –including information about the themes and the authors whose work we’ll be inspired by – is outlined on the Himalayan Writing Retreat website where you can apply for a place. There is also an opportunity to have one-to-one feedback on your writing work. Our central theme in terms of writing is ‘Authenticity of Voice and Story’. Whether you are writing fiction, memoir or poetry, the week will enable you to ‘experiment in order to come home’ to a voice and story that are entirely your own. During the afternoons, you will have plenty of time to write independently – perhaps on your balcony or outside, gazing at the stunning mountains…
In addition to the writing curriculum, there will be optional morning yoga at the Himalayan retreat . There are optional excursions to include a hike into the forest reserve and a visit to the Shiva Temple in Mukteshwar – and there will be a Bollywood night at our centre!
There is no better way, of course, to get a sense of what lies ahead, than by listening to the words of students who have travelled to the retreat already…
