Rowena Goldman is a published author and dramatist. Her writing credits include ‘The Mediterranean Health Diet’, published by Hodder Headline, and she is co-librettist and lyricist of the stage musicals ‘A Tale of Little Italy’ and ‘Up Is There’, both currently in development.
She is the co-founder of Nick O’Time Films and has a film, ‘Sunflower’, in pre-production in Germany. She was on the Script Factory’s New Writers Talent list with it’s aim to champion screenwriters and create fresh and exciting stories for our screens. Her story ‘Man Farm’ was short-listed for NYC Midnight’s Short Story Challenge. As a journalist, she has written for ‘Time Out’, ‘The First Post’, ‘Drama Quarterly’ and ‘The Scotsman’.
After drama school, Rowena embarked on a career in television, spanning 30 years. Her extensive credits as producer/director include documentaries, live chat shows, entertainment and current affairs for the BBC, Channel 4, L!ve TV and ITV.
Whilst at the BBC, Rowena received a BAFTA award as producer and script executive of the Radio 4 interactive Drama ‘The Dark House’.
With her acting background, perfoming in productions at the Edinburgh Fringe, and The Roundhouse, her dual perspective in front of and behind the camera gives her valuable insight when editing scripts for stage and screen.
She is particularly attuned to women’s voices, and is passionate about the stories women have to tell from the female experience. Rowena has twin daughters by donor conception. Bringing her girls up in this way as a single mother, whilst maintaining her creative career, has been a profound experience which has fed into her own writing. She is passionate about fiction and is currently working on a novel, having recently attended one of the Faber Academy’s creative writing courses. She brings her extensive editing experience across scripts, plays, and radio dramas to manuscripts of novels.
Rowena is a BBC trained ICF accredited Executive and Leadership Coach. She believes in the art of active listening to enable her clients to tap into their innate voice and make connections to surface their own observations and solutions. During her coaching sessions, from her stance of non-judgemental, inquisitive questioning, invariably the client has a ‘lightbulb’ moment which acts as a powerful guide towards achieving goals during the writing process.
She is a member of the Writers Guild of Great Britain. She lives in London with her daughters (when they’re not at university!) and her cockapoo, Gregory Van Camper.
