If you are preparing your manuscript for self-publishing, it is vital that your work is fully copyedited and proofread to ensure that your finished work is both readable and professional. The team at The Writing Coach has a wide range of skills and we are here to help you bring your work to completion.
These are separate processes, and if a work requires copyediting, it should still be proofread prior to publication. For traditional publication, this will be done in-house by your publisher.
Copyediting includes attention to spelling, punctuation and grammar, but also includes additional focus on the rhythm of sentences and factual errors.
Proofreading includes attention to spelling and punctuation. The proofreader also checks the manuscript for consistent use of formatting such as use of italics, inverted commas, capitals etc.
You may also wish to consider proofreading in advance of submission to agents and publishers, especially if English is not your first language.
We can advise on whether proofreading or copyediting is recommended in your individual case. We provide these services for fiction and non-fiction works.
