Today September 17th 2024, represents the culmination of a wonderful course Jacqui started last summer to celebrate the work of new writers. The idea of The Ten was to find ten writers with the desire to write a book in a year and ten agents who would be interested in reading some of their work!
A year later, we have this beautiful book in our hands… The Ten: An Anthology of New Fiction from The Writing Coach.
The Ten : An Anthology of New Writing from The Writing Coach is a captivating anthology of fiction and memoir by ten emerging writers, curated by The Writing Coach. The collection features powerful extracts from longer-form works, encompassing contemporary and historical fiction, fantasy and poetic memoir.
From tales of daring rescues and mysterious disappearances to explorations of family dynamics, resilience, and personal transformation. Jacqui, penned the introduction for the book and writes:
The ten invites readers to reflect on the diversity and depth of our shared human journey. Discover stories that reveal the extraordinary, the mystical and the profound through the voices of talented new authors.
The writers are: Angela Jameson, Nora Kerezovic, Talisha McKnight, Gavin Marshall, Daphne Mays, Emma Rogers, Farhana Shaikh, Jacqueline Smith, Linda Kay Stevens and George Wallace.
The anthology is the end result of ten months of intense work by the writers, aided by Jacqui’s brilliant coaching. More than just the writing and the book though, it represents a community of like minded writers and true friendships have formed along the way…
You may notice that my own name is in that list! I wasn’t originally a member but one of the original writers could no longer continue, and so we were left with nine writers at a late stage in the process.
Obviously in a programme called The Ten that wouldn’t do, so Jacqui, knowing that I had just completed the first draft of my novel, gave me the opportunity to contribute…
I was only too happy to get involved, not least because I had spent a year gathering together ten leading literary agents to read the anthology.
The book is available to order at leading book stores including Waterstones and Foyles and can also be bought at Hive and on Amazon, in book form or for Kindle.
